Sean Olalo (b. 1989) is a queer PHLIV (Person Living with HIV) artist from Cebu, Philippines. Known for his intimate portraits that integrate origamis, mainly butterflies as a corporeal study on ephemerality, death, and freedom. His preoccupation is to capture moments of softness in spaces he inhabits—tenderness in the club, vulnerability in a stranger’s room, the rawness of shared gazes.
Olalo explores deeper connections with people and spaces through his lens. His desire to be part of life with all of its beauty and pain is reflected in his attention to the craft. He engages the public through social media, various gallery shows, and artist’s talks.
